Emma's Horror Crash!
Jetpilot's Emma McFerran was performing in Crusty Demon's FMX demos on April 21 & 22 at the Darwin round of the Australian Superbikes when everything went wrong!

Emma was called up for the event at very late notice and was unable to have her own bike sent up in time, so she had to ride a brand new bike straight of the showroom floor. Emma has been consistently jumping 75ft now for over a year and has jumped portables setups before but with all the power of such a new bike and a strong tail wind, she hit the take off ramp with far more speed than needed.
Emma sailed high and long and totally missed the landing slamming incredibly hard into the tarmac as spectators feared the very worst. Incredibly Emma was not knocked unconscious, some how only received minor injures and would have walked away if medics hadn't stopped her.
After being rushed to Darwin hospital for full body X-Rays and scans, Emma was cleared with only a broken wrist, fractured ribs and punctured lung along with some minor bruising, One incredibly tough and lucky girl.
"After witnessing her take the heaviest hit I have ever seen. It is no doubt the scariest moment of my life. If she chooses to never ride again I would be more than happy with her decision," Matty McFerran (brother).
"I remember I didn't think I was going to be getting up after [crashing] … I thought I was going to be seriously injured, maybe even dead," Emma said.
Emma underwent surgery to her left wrist and spent the next 5 days in Hospital at the Darwin Private before flying home to Melbourne to be with her family.
One week later and Emma is doing extremely well where she is taking it easy already making a return to her fitness training. This horrific crash hasn't deterred Emma at all, a few weeks off the bike waiting for her wrist to heal and she is already counting down the days to get back out there even more determined then ever.
Emma would like to thank everyone for their enormous amount of support and best wishes over the last week.
