Emma McFerran, 23 years old from Melbourne, Victoria and currently living at Jackson Strong's in Lockhart, NSW.
In 2002 Emma started racing and continued competing for 8 years. In her final years of racing, she competed in the senior women’s open and also in the senior B 250f/125cc class.
Emma is making a name for herself and following her dream as being the only female freestyle motocross rider in Australia rising amongst the boys. Coming from a strong racing background, Emma has persued her path in FMX with the help from her older brother, professional FMX rider Matty McFerran of Monster Energy ShowTime Kawasaki. He has shown her the pathway to follow and provided her with the knowledge and skills to get her where she is now.
Emma’s first big break in the FMX world came when she was personally invited by superstar P!NK and her husband, Cary Hart to perform on the National Hart and Huntington Freestyle Tour, a series of action sports, lifestyle and culture shows accompanying the singer’s concerts. Disappointingly, she was injured while practicing but made it her mission to pursue opportunities as the action sports genre continues to grow.
Her big break came with the re-launch of the Crusty Demons and the 2010 National Thirst 4 Destruction Tour. Emma shot to stardom performing at sold out shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, uncovering the sport to a new and enthusiastic female youth market. Media embraced her story and her humble personality where her involvement on the Crusty Demon’s Tour generated over half a million dollars worth of PR exposure including articles and features in every major metro newspaper as well as national television and radio. A connected and social-savvy fan base saw action sports fans share stories of her success far and wide across the internet, with regular coverage on leading international action sports and motorcycle websites.
Emma’s major achievements throughout her racing/FMX career:
- Placing 3rd in the Australian Women’s MX Cup at Horsham;
- Placing 5th three years in a row in the Victorian Senior Motocross Titles and 4th in the 2008 Victorian Titles;
- In 2009 she was personally invited by PINK and Carey Hart to perform FMX at their five stop Hart & Huntington Tour across Australia;
- Riding in the recent 2010 Crusty Demons “Thirst 4 Destruction Tour”
